Let’s go through the steps for purchasing your new IKEA kitchen to give you an idea of how much and how long the process should take.
Hire an IKEA Kitchen Designer or Design Yourself
First step is to measure your kitchen. Once you have the dimensions, you’ll input those in the Ikea kitchen planner. If you start this process and become overwhelmed with the online IKEA kitchen planner, know that you’re not alone.
An alternative is to hire an IKEA kitchen designer to go through this process for you and make sure you get everything you need for your new IKEA kitchen.
The IKEA designer will give you a 3D look of your projected kitchen space with the items you picked and how much each piece will cost for an overall kitchen cabinet cost.

If you are looking to do an IKEA kitchen within 3-6 months, look out for the two times a year that IKEA has their 10% off sale the entire kitchen purchase from IKEA.
Also if you signed up for IKEA’s family membership, and you ordered your kitchen at full price, if the cabinets go on sale within 90 days of your receipt, you can take your receipt to IKEA and they will give you a refund for the cost difference.
